The most common way to lose water weight fast is to use foods which act as natural diuretics and assist our body in producing urine so that the fluid retained in body gets removed fast. However, before one decides on what remedy to use, it is important to know what is making our body retain water or fluid in the first place.

Water retention occurs when our body cannot get rid of the excess fluid in a timely manner. This condition can cause swelling of ankles, legs, feet, or other parts of our body. Consequently, the person suffering from this condition may look bloated or puffed up. When

this happens, many feel that they are overweight and start trying one or other traditional method of losing weight. In other words, they think that they will need to get rid of excess fat in their body while it is really excess fluid which needs to get rid of.

Some of the common conditions that cause water retention include high protein deficiency, lack of exercise, insufficient intake of B-vitamins, excess intake of sodium and sugar, etc. These conditions can make the capillary walls leaky, and as a result, make the fluids stay back in the tissues, causing swelling of body parts. The excess water will also stay back in the tissues if too much water is supplied in the lymphatic system. Water retention is also caused by kidney failure, menstruation or pregnancy, and poor heart condition.

The foods that act as effective diuretic aids include beets, asparagus, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, carrots, artichoke, cucumber, horseradish, tomatoes, lettuce, cranberry juice, apple cider vinegar, green tea, oats, fennel, dandelion, parsley, watermelon, etc. Most of these will help produce urine and may help one to lose water weight fast.

 However, while diuretics may help, one should also try to determine what is causing the water retention and treat it accordingly. This is a more effective way of losing weight. For example, if the fluid retention is caused by an excess intake of sugar or salt, one should cut back on the intake of those items. Or if it is caused by protein deficiency or insufficient B-vitamins, one would need to consume foods rich in amino acid and B-vitamins, respectively.
